Hi,
I read a posts by you all on immigration voice which said U.S newspapers can easily publish a name change Ad for $70!! But I hear that they need some kind of a court order to do that...Can I ask you which paper did you advertize in India and in U.S. I have the same problem as many others -- I have only one name on my passport "Kritee" and U.S. embassy when they gave me visa made it FNU (as first name) Kritee (last name). Now I want to add a first name to my passport and all documents in U.S...and am wondering if I need to go to a U.S. court or not? All and any help will be appreciated!

Once we cross Aug 17, IV should seriously think of how to resolve the backlogs of I-485 and also should think of new people who need to file I-485.

Good one, Change to workflow should not be an issue, but we should have IV core support and reasonable to pool of money (not peanuts) to make this a success. I would recommend to run a funding drive, specially for this effort once IV core endorses this effort. In day to day life, Everything begins with $, you get what you pay for and nothing is free.

The above part of your submission is not true. If you read the I-485 Adjudicator's Manual, you will find that the file is already opened and input into the system at this stage. Otherwise dwhuser would not have received I-797 Notice of Action.
In theory action on a case should be sequenced by priority date and then received date within the priority date batch. However, nobody knows for sure how USCIS works each case.

When I said "file is not opened", I meant that no one has yet reviewed the file. Note that for most cases PD is not a controlling factor. It is only the unfortunate ones from retrogressed countries that they have to wait for PD to be current. For everyone else, once file is reviewed, if all documentation is in order, case is cleared. Once a file is reviewed, if it has to wait for PD to be current, it is placed in sequence of PD. See USCIS SOP on the link below, which even tells what color of paper clip to use, etc. (though it is a bit out of date).

This is a totally wrong message someone out there put out to make people nervous. Application support centers do no have IO's. The only IO's you will meet would be at a different USCIS facility where you take appointment and stand before the counter and ask the questions.
There will be no reason why someone would meet a IO at the fingerprinting place which generally have technicians and security to monitor the process. You sit in a waiting room alongwith 100 other people, then once your name is called, you do the fingerprinting and get out of the door.
There is no time to mingle with IOs nor there will be IOs(friendly or not) who would be willing to disclose any information to you.
Some people online gloat at having pleasure to spread disinformation. this seems to be the case...

Here is something i found on the web for the interpretation of labor sub cases, the original PD stays with original beneficiary, but when the labor certification is used for another beneficiary then USCIS should allocate the new I-140 filing date as PD, not the original LC date.

Please stop using condescending remarks. I have been reading all your posts and your tone is going from bad to worst. It is not possible to place all the threads on the home page. We make a decision to put threads on the home page that we believe are important for our effort. If you feel otherwise, that is ok. But it is not ok for you to use derogatory language. If you feel so passionate, why don't you start your organization and spend your time, energy and resources and advocate for the cause instead of posting derogatory messages for others. It is very easy to fire when the gun is on someone else shoulder. We understand and share the frustration with green card delays, but that does not give you license to use derogatory language. Everyday there is new thread asking for update, leadership, direction etc. It is not practical to reply to every such post on this forum. That too does not give you license to use derogatory language. In last over 2.5 years we have answered many thousands questions in forums, emails and phone calls. I have heard many a times from my fellow team mates that not once did anyone receive a Thank you note from someone after that someone was fully able to resolve the situation after receiving reply from my colleagues at IV. None of us spend time on this cause to receive a Thank you note, however, posts like yours makes us wonder that are we a community of thankless educated immigrants who are so obsessed with our individual case that all that we want is instant gratification to exactly know the current status of our green cards, without which automatically IV is at fault. Just so that you know, people spend 30 sometimes 40 hours a week over the period of years, just to read a post from someone like you. We received a call at 12:30am yesterday from someone asking about changing to another company because his current employer was not being fair. If you are serious about taking the baton, please let us know your phone number and we will post it on the website so that people can call you when they have a question. yep..very few care about EB, its all EB2 these days, one of the reasons i am very close to giving up, difficult to convince people these days. I am guessing that most EB3 I's have simply given up or have been bulldozed aside. We know for a fact that there are thousands in a similar situation, but they don't seem/want or care to voice their opinions.
I tend to agree.... nowhere in the past discussions IV seem to have cared about EB3s. It is more frustrating to see this situation sincce Eb3's have been suffering for longer with no hopes what so ever.
And anyone trying to implicate that EB3s are less skilled are plain wrong - we got in EB3 limbo due to large corporations doing things by book (or for plain long term commitment out of workers).
Either way, IV leadership needs to re-iterate and re-emphasize at least once that this is not EB2 fight only but EB fight in general. IV discussions simply have gone EB2 biased only for too long.

I finally overcame inertia to sign-up as a monthly donor. I had tried once before but did not want to create a Paypal account - so I made a one-time contribution and kicked the recurring contribution down the line.

Yes, I agree. Preadjudication by no means, is a confirmed decision. It is just do as much as possible, but when the time comes, re-review the case - which can result in RFE for anything. Nothing is confirmed until decison is made. Be positive and hope for the best...

I am going to take the liberty of putting together an agenda for the conference call, just to make it more productive. I can play scribe for the call.
The call will be for a maximum of 60 mins, unless someone wants to take it longer than that.
1. Quick introductions - State your name - GC application stage. - 10 mins
2. Brainstorming session -- 20 mins
2. Volunteers who want to be part of the smaller sub-group need to come forward. -- 5 mins
This is purely to get thoughts/ideas streamlined. Everybody needs to chip in once the action plans are drafted.
3. Volunteers to exchange contact information. -- 10 mins
4. Miscellaneous -- 15 mins (if needed)
Please add more items if you feel they are necessary.
I will try to scrape all the ideas generated in this thread and will summarize for the call. If anyone wants to post more ideas/comments/suggestions/criticisms, go right ahead and post.
