It is easy to say than do. Flower Compaign worked once because they made a mistake. They can return the flowers to the senders. You cannot make law change in the divided issue that much easily.Hunger Strike could lead legal issues for participants some times. So that is impractical. For arranging rallies IV volunteers may have to work for months to organise. After some people's hardwork only a few hundred people will turn up. So rally will become get together.

Not to blame IV core team, but other members who would just come and read blogs. Specially EAD holder's, I hope their eyes are opening up to new realities. Yesterday, my sister in law entered USA from Newark Airport and she witnessed three people holding HIB visas get cancelled at the immigration point, one had EAD.
All we Desi's want is a free ride, same old mentality, don't want to put in any diligence in this matter, but very quick on pointing short comings on others. Blame game!

Friends, please suggest. I bought ICICI lombard 3 times previously, never had to use it, so no comments there. Now, I'm thinking of buying something better as I had heard horrible things about ICICI lombard.
Anybody who has had a parent with diabetes and taken insurance? If there were any problems, did the insurance pay the costs? If possible can you also mention what problems came up during the stay.

There is No sense is passing a rule/memo like this where the consultant/Employee is affected badly.USCIS changes their views and rules on a need to need basis which should be struck down by the court of law.We as immigriants to US and we have every right to fight this rule and also need to support the need to revoke this rule.
Even a criminal gets a chance to plea in the court as not guilty,but we dont get a chance beyond the immigration counters.We continue to contribute so much tax dollars and all of that shouldnt go in Vain.People have lives and Families and they can never build or continue the future invested here in US.
I agree that the rule will make sense for new H1�s or extensions but i dont not agree that it should be passed on people randomly.USCIS should force such a rule on the Employer and not go against H1 Employees.
This Rule should be taken by employers to implement new standards of practicing consulting and not try to find loop holes in the system.Obviously we should have seen this coming which is ripple effect of all the employers exploiting the Consulting business.
H1 or EAD or GC ,All Immigrants need to stand united to fight this fight.

looking at the sarcastic, venomous and abusive responses, make me wonder why some people are so insecure and touchy. Why is there a my way or the highway mentality. Or may be some are happy living in illusion and don't wanna be shown some reality. couple of points
1) again none of us will be treated same as American. Some of you mention BO as role model, remember his mom was American and he was born in Hawaii. had he been born in Merrut, you wont have been talking bout him.
2) I got canadian PR not because i want to move there or anything. I got it cause its a good backup. If things dont go right in India, i can always come back for few more years. But this time it will be Canada. And before you guys start crying again, Canada has no problem with someone keeping a PR as long as he spends 2 out of 5 years in Canada.
Again, just the sheer number of people from India, China and Mexico running after PR ensures there is a long waiting line. No way around it. So either wait for your turn, or explore other alternative. If you want to spend time howling, crying and protesting, well good luck with that too. It only makes American look down on us as GC seeking lowly, noisy, needy immigrants.
Look up how immigration is done in NZ, AUS and Canada, that's a dignified way and then there is this USCIS way which humiliates you at every step. So the choice is there, its just tht we r too stuck with american GC

AC21 is a law. However, USCIS not yet published the regulation since year 2000, that binds everyone. All these memos since 2000, are internal to USCIS and not binding. They are very clear in the memo that revokation (except on fraud) of an already approved 140 by the petitioner, after 180 days of pending of 485, will not stop the approval of 485, if employee changes to similar occupation. This is just a non bining internal standard of USCIS. It does not have teeth, as it is not a public regulation. However, this internal standard can be changed by any time with/without public notice or through a regulation. Also, one should remember that, they mentioned in one of their memos that, regulation will be much tougher than memo.
Therefore, as some one is mentioned that, an approved immigrant visa pettion should be always available at the time of issuing GC. That is also a law. This law also need to be met at the time of approval of 485. Therfore AC21 and requirement for availability of approved 140 is two different and counteracting issues.
In practical situation, the employee has no control over 140 in any stage as it is employer's petition. Immigration is a privilege when we enter the country. But when we have been here for such a long time, paid our taxes and respected the administration and bureaucracy, it�s our right. As for the job loss, no job is certain for anyone. But at least a GC holder can look for alternate jobs. He is not tied to his labor cert/employer. When employees post for job, they might say �need a citizen or gc holder�. But never say we only need a H1-B holder. So when we have respected and followed the rules of this country immigration becomes a right as logic life suggested.

One has to remember that the famous "AC21" is also a memo! My only concern is that we need to have a really good reason why we think AC21 is legal, and should be abided by, by USCIS, but the latest "E-E Relationship" memo is not legal, or is unjust...
AILA wants to fight this on the grounds that such directives cannot be mandated in the form of a memo, but laws have to be passed. What if USCIS retracts the AC21 memo on the same grounds?

Why are you consuming and wasting couple of visa numbers. Pull back your application and I will be couple of hours early getting it.
GC should be received by people who need it desparately not to people like you who just want to get it for personal satisfaction and has no value for it.

How about trying to convert the existing "free" members to paid members? People post questions here all the time asking about personal stuff. People can be allowed to register for free but for posting we need full details In the very least we need a VALID phone number and a VALID email. For this we do not need IV teams to do anything. If, as a surfer you want to post or get access to "members only" posts, the surfer has to call the IV phone number using his primary phone number. That whoever is answering the phones can verify the phone numbers. Once the phone number is verified, the status of that member will be "active".
Now the team responsible for collections can start calling the people and asking if they have contributed and how much. We are looking to get more members and that is a wonderful approach. However we have only a THIRD of the members paying over and over again as it seems from the previous posts. It's time to start converting the free members to paid subscriptions. These other 2/3rds are using IV bandwidth and resources. It's time people started paying their dues. Doesnt have to be $100 minimum, even $10 will do, but please contribute. :)
