Are you a fan of the Buffalo Bills or New York Jets and traveling to the game in Toronto on Thursday, 12/3? If so, the US Customs and Border Protection agency has travel advice for you here. (http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/newsroom/news_releases/11302009_3.xml) CBP advises travelers to check traffic conditions at the four border crossings within the Buffalo/Niagara region, and select the crossing that is least congested. Travelers can easily obtain current border traffic conditions by calling the Niagara Falls Bridge Commission�s toll free number at 1-800-715-6722 or by visiting various web sites listed by CBP.
Travelers should prepare for the inspection process before arriving at the inspection booth. Individuals should have their crossing documents available for inspection and they should be prepared to declare all items acquired outside the U.S. In compliance with full implementation of the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative, which commenced June 1, all travelers, including U.S. and Canadian citizens, will need to present documentary proof of citizenship.
These documents include a Passport, U.S. Passport Card, trusted traveler card (NEXUS, SENTRI or FAST) or an Enhanced Drivers License. Children under the age of 16 can present an original or copy of their birth certificate. CBP will remain practical and flexible in its approach to full implementation of the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative and will continue to educate and inform the traveling public. Can anybody provide some information on how long the wait would be.

Now we know how Tom Paine felt at Valley Forge. It has been a cold December for those who think immigration is good for America. On December 16th, the House of Representatives approved the Border Protection, Antiterrorism and Illegal Immigration Control Act of 2005(H.R.4437), perhaps the most draconian bill of recent memory, and, a mere three days later, the House approved an agreement with the Senate on a comprehensive budget reconciliation package stripped bare of any pro-immigration provisions. While there is some satisfaction in the fact that the House did not get the higher L fees that it sought, this is cold comfort. Truth be told, it was a tough week, the worst in a long time, and the shock among pro-immigration circles, both on Capitol Hill and beyond, is palpable.
Removal of Section 8001 from the Budget Reconciliation Conference Report can be a temporary setback if we play our cards right. Congressman Sensenbrenner has long and loudly proclaimed that he is not against all immigration, just the illegal variety. Fine. Let�s take him at his word. He is, after all, the architect of the new E-3 visa that enables 10,500 Australians to get around the H-1B cap. Congressman Sensenbrenner has his enforcement-only bill now so he should be prepared to support us when we seek to attach Section 8001 to broadly bipartisan legislation in the upcoming session of Congress. If Congressman Sensenbrenner means what he says, and he usually does, this might be a golden opportunity to bring Section 8001 back to life.

I don't think there is any grace period. One of my friend did the same way and he went to delhi for stamping every thing was fine for him. Check with your lawer and make sure you have all the documents for stamping.

CCC Can you please wait for a day. We are working on holding a 'All Hands' conference call. Giving financial details is on the top of the agenda. We'll provide information about what have been spent so far what we have in reserves and what expenses we expect in the near future. Please stay tuned for the update on the conference call.
If appropiate can one of the administrators tell us how much of the funds collected thus far have been used (for whatever purposes). I am not asking where the money went :-), just basically how much is left in the Kitty now. If we are running low i am hoping we will see a spur of new donations..
Before anybody asks; yes i have contributed to IV. $600 as of now. I plan to send in another $100 or $200 by end of the month.
PS- Of course as i said above please disclose this info only if its deemed not sensitive.

Is it mandatory to spend [B]at least[B] 6 months residing in the US every calendar year after obtaining a GC? :confused:
If your stay is less than 1 year abroad, you can reenter using just your green card. If you want to stay 1-2 years outside the U.S, you will have to apply for a reentry permit before departure. But, it will be considered as a break (i.e, more than 1 year abroad) in the continous residence requirement of 5 years when it comes to your naturalization application.
If you want to stay longer than that, you will have to apply for "returning resident permit" for which you need to prove that your intent is to be a permanent resident but, your stay abroad longer than the period of the reentry permit was beyond your control.
Please consult an attorney so that you don't lose your PR.

I am having my EAD and AP and I am not using my EAD.

AP expires Oct 08

Can I renew AP only ?
If, I do not renew EAD will it be a problem in the future ?
Can I renew it after EAD has expired ?
Also, If I am renewing AP only, when does the 120 days rule come into picture.

In order to do this, she will have to leave the country and apply for a H-1b consular processing. Get a new visa and come back into the county on H-1. She cannot file for a change of status to H-1 from AOS.
