Just think that 40K green cards went to India last year and this year it will not exceed 10K by much. That was before BECs.
It is a truly daunting situation.
I however do feel there will be some solution to this mess within the next year with some sort of legislation that corporate america will push.

Today my attorney filed my 485 with e-reciept of 140. My employer told that they didnt recieved reciept notice by mail so My attorney used 140 e-reciept for 485 filing.

Title should have been: "God blessed me !! Got GC." Fix the title, other wise it looks like "God blessed you !! I got into trouble", Unless you feel GC as some trouble imposed on you.
I am (and most of IV visitors) still without GC and years to go before getting GC.

Man....9 loong years....thats too long in this era for one employer. Congratulations on your GC Approval. I can clearly see the relief.
I got my approval y'day from TSC. This marks the end of GC journey. Been with same employer since Aug 1999 ( 9 Long years...........).

My I 140 was rejected in April 2007 because USCIS thought that my company couldnt show the ability to pay. My PD was 2003 August.
My attorney filed an appeal, and now he suggests, that we file fresh I 140 and I 485 using the same Labor approval from original PD.
I asked her, whether it was allowed, because I was thinking about filing fresh PERM under the impression that since My I 140 was rejected, I lost my PD.
I need help from the GURUs here. Is the above possible?
My attorney says that when an appeal is pending, once can file a new I 140 and get that approved (so it replaces that appeal). And the benefit would be I will be able to file I 485 right now along with I 140.
Please help me out. I need to act soon on this.

According to IRS you are citizen(Any one who stays more that 180 days and pays taxes in us is a citizen according to them). You can apply for student Loan as a citizen if you use this clause intelligently. This is how most students get credit cards. If you say you are on H1 to a credit card company they will never give you the card.
Again this is only my opinion. I might be wrong.:)

I know someone who went to Canada for the weekend and got the I-94 with the correct date on it.
Note that the airline (AA), on his way out of the US, was not willing to take his I-94 since he was going for less than 30 days. So he had to explain to them about his situation and they took it.
Also note that if you have an Indian passport, you will need a visa to go to Canada.
The other option to extend your I-94 is for your employer to refile I-129, and request for extension of stay. This can be done using premium processing.

My H4 spouse left the country for vacation on May 25 (before h4 expiry)
Attorney filed 7th year ext and I 539 on Jun14.
My 6th year of H1 ended on Jun 17.
The attorney was not reachable by HR or myself. HR calls me today about problem with H4 and the attorney wants to discuss. What the heck ? Do they file I-539 when some one is not in the country ? She and I always maintained proper status. What can be the problem? I am freaking out to get my h1 ext approval asap and bring her back to file 485. Now my head is exploding. Any clues ? I cant bear this suspense.

But I do not think your head needs to explode...All you have to do now is to send your extension papers to wife back home and get her H4 stamped...
Without a stamp she cannot come back and by leaving country she abandoned the I539....

I got the same message for my I-485 application. I called the customer service representative and she transfered me to Immigration Officer. The Immigration Officer is so kind. He told me that there are two different systems in USCIS , one in mainframe system and another is DB2 System. My case is on Mainframes system so it will get transfered to DB2 System as they have few problems in updating.
I too got my receipt numbers 8 weeks back, but still i am getting the same message.

I think what Asian means is that the stringent rule of 'Same kind of job' in AC21 makes AC21 usability very limited. If that condition is abolished, 485 is as good as GC in terms of job mobility.
Unfortunately that doesn't have a lot of support since it defeats the purpose of labor certification.
